Being a mom is more than carting kids around to games and concerts, finding lost sippy cups and pacifiers, and fixing scraped knees. It’s more than being a chauffeur and a chef. Being a mom isn’t a job…it’s a calling.
It’s not giving birth that makes someone a mother. A mother is a person who is willing to take on the responsibility of investing her life into another human being without expectation of anything in return. So, whether you are a new mom, an empty nester, or a future mom—whether you have natural children, spiritual children, or both—you have an influential role in the Kingdom of God.
The enemy knows this and resists it. He pushes back by coming at you with lies.
That you are insignificant.
That what you do isn’t important.
That you’ll never meet the expectations of your husband, your kids, your friends, or the culture.
That you’re missing the mark. That your kids aren’t listening. That this last meltdown in Target was the final straw.
That your worth is wrapped up in your productivity. Or in their obedience.
That you’re going to fail…or, worse, that you are a failure.
3 Things I Know About Praying Moms
Praying moms recognize they are limited.
Every mom wants to know: Am I doing it right? Am I enough? Moms are superheroes, but they can’t prevent every threat. Sooner or later every mom discovers there are hurts you can’t heal, problems you can’t fix, and preparations you can’t make. Praying moms don’t have to have all the answers, because they know the One who does.
Praying moms recognize that the spiritual realm is a game changer.
Prayer connects the natural and the supernatural world together. It pushes back the darkness and fights the lies of the enemy with the truth of God’s Word. It’s not flashy. It’s not easy. It’s not instant. It happens when no one’s watching, and sometimes it’s hard to see it’s working. But it makes all the difference.
Praying moms recognize that God hears and answers them.
There’s a clear pattern in Scripture: Hagar, Moses’ mom, Rahab, Hannah. These women weren’t perfect. They made mistakes, but they experienced incredible provision because they simply believed God saw their need and heard their prayer. It isn’t manipulation, it’s trusting the Source.
The love of a mom isn’t casual. It’s passionate. Moms, you can’t fix all the problems life will bring, but you can show your children how to touch and feel God and how to love and worship Him. I want you to know that it’s never too late to start. What you’re investing in the next generation is worth it.
Let me encourage you with something: You have never prayed a prayer for your children that God did not hear
